When it comes to cooking, Marco Pierre White doesn’t hold back.
But while, Marco, 55, isn’t afraid to tell it like it is, especially when it comes to the Hell’s Kitchen contestants, there is one person in particular he’d gladly hire to work in his kitchen any day – and that’s Debra Lawrance.
“You can see that cooking to her plays a very large part in her life,” Marco says of Deb, who admits she had a fan-girl moment when meeting the culinary genius for the first time.
“Debra is a great cook and enjoys cooking.”
When asked whether the 60-year-old is in with a chance to be crowned the first ever winner of Hell’s Kitchen Australia, Marco is careful not to give too much away.
“I don’t know. I can’t answer that one,” he says, adding there is one person he feels could potentially have a future in food should their day jobs fall over.
“One person, if they said tomorrow I’m changing my career direction, they could survive and excel in the kitchen,” Marco says. “And that’s the truth. That is actually the truth.”
Of his time filming the show, Marco admits despite not knowing who the contestants were, he had an absolute ball.
“It was an experience, it was a journey, it’s reality TV in the true sense of being real,” he explains.
“I’ve got to say the celebrities delivered professionalism, they delivered a standard, they worked hard and they were good.”
So can we expect to see Marco back on our screens anytime soon?
“I’m not going to tell you,” Marco says. “I hope our paths cross again.”
