Eve Morey has been announced as one of seven nominees for the Gold Logie Award at the 2019 TV WEEK Logie Awards.
The Neighbours star says she’s “so excited” to be nominated, alongside Amanda Keller, Costa Georgiadis, Rodger Corser, Sam Mac, Tom Gleeson and Waleed Aly.
Eve’s nomination comes in the wake of mass support from Neighbours fans, who watched on tearfully as she said goodbye to the hit soap.
After almost a decade on screen, Eve’s character Sonya Rebecchi tragically died after a battle with ovarian cancer.
Her final scenes with her on-screen husband Ryan Moloney (Toadie) aired in March, with the actress telling TV WEEK it was tough to film.
“It was a real mix of being incredibly fulfilling in some ways, but so sad in so many others,” she says.
“The good thing about this storyline is we got to really sit in the grief of that. It was difficult, but at the same time there was something beautiful about it. We were in it together.
In the wake of her character’s death, fans rallied around Eve, who revealed it wasn’t her choice to leave.
“It was a shock,” Eve says of her death. “[But] it’s kind of a reality of the business.”
When the first round of voting kicked off in March, fans were quick to share support. There were hashtags, t-shirts, and ALL the memes you could think of.
She even had the support of many big name stars, including Jane Kennedy who wrote: “Eve your performance over the last year has been extraordinary. And recently? Wow. Stunning. I will be voting for you.”
Her fans will certainly be thrilled to hear of her Gold nomination. Plus, she was also nominated for Most Popular Actress, and Ryan Moloney is also nominated for Most Popular Actor.
Meanwhile, Neighbours is nominated for both Most Popular Drama Series and Most Outstanding Drama Series.
