Emmy Nominations 2018: Game of Thrones, Westworld and Handmaid’s Tale lead the way

The nominations for the 2018 Emmy Awards are in, and high-budget dramas are leading the way!

HBO’s Game of Thrones received the most, with a whopping 22 nominations. The show is now the most-nominated series of all time, surpassing medical drama ER’s 124 with an impressive 129 nods.

The fantasy drama series was quickly followed by Westworld and Saturday Night Live, which each have 21. The Handmaid’s Tale wasn’t far behind, with an incredible 20 nominations.

Netflix broke HBO’s 17-year streak as the most-nominated network, beating them out with an incredible 112 nominations. The streaming service scored nods for shows including Queer Eye, Stranger Things, The Crown and GLOW.

John Legend is in line to land himself a coveted EGOT, the title bestowed upon a person who has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award. The singer is nominated for both Best Actor in a Limited Series or Movie and as a producer for Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert.

Killing Eve actress Sandra Oh, who previously starred as Christina Yang in Grey’s Anatomy for ten years, has made history as the first nominee of Asian descent in the Leading Actress in a Drama Series category.

Australian actress Yvonne Strahovski scored a nomination for Bets Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of the formidable Serena in The Handmaid’s Tale.

The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards will be held on Monday, September 17th 2018. The 2018 show will be hosted by Saturday Night Live stars Colin Jost and Michael Che.
