Comedian and TV host Dave Hughes picked up Josh Barker and Elyse Knowles‘ luxury Block property on Auction Day last year for a cool $3.067 million, but the 47-year-old now he admits he paid way too much for it.

Yep, the full-furnished five-bedroom house in Elsternwick, Melbourne, is a stunner but the quick purchase was a tad excessive now with the benefit of hindsight.

“I went to get a bank loan the other day and they haven’t valued it the same as I paid for it, which is fine, but annoying because there were five bidders,” he told Stellar.

According to him, the price difference was “Enough less that it made me annoyed.”

” I just think it’s good value and in a few years time people are going to be going, ‘Well, fu–, didn’t he do well with it!’ I am playing the long game, all right? That is what I say to my wife anyway,” Dave explained.

At the time of his purchase, Dave told TV WEEK: “It’s a great house, in a great street and a great part of Melbourne and really well built and has a great aspect.”

Adding he and his family live “just around the corner”, he thought it was a “great investment”.

Dave snapped up this Elsternwick property.

His wife Holly was apparently ‘mortified‘ that he’d bought the property.

“The only thing I asked was, ‘If you are going to bid can you please just do it through an advocate so we can keep it private’,” she told her husband’s co-host Kate Langbroek on their KIIS drive show.

“I didn’t think he’d end up buying it either.”
