The first trailer for The CW’s Charmed re-boot has finally arrived, and it’s dividing opinions.
Much like the original series, the new Charmed will follow three magical sisters, who discover they are the most powerful witches of all time after their mother’s death.
The new trailer gives us a look at how the three sisters reunite and come to terms with their unique powers. In the family there’s Macy(Madeleine Mantock), Mel (Melonie Diaz) and Maggie (Sarah Jeffery).
The Charmed re-boot is set to air on The CW network in ‘fall’ in the United States, so during spring in Australia.
Though an Australian affiliate network is yet to be confirmed, other CW series’ including Jane The Virgin, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Riverdale and Dynasty have all aired on streaming service Netflix.
As with any remake, the TV show was always going to be subject to criticism from die-hard fans of the original.
Naturally, the first full-length trailer caused a stir online, quickly dividing fans in to separate camps. There were plenty of negative reactions:
But despite the negativity, there were also fans who were either excited by the trailer, or keen to give the show a chance regardless of ‘first impressions’.
