Channel 10 has announced the shows hitting TV screens in 2023 – and it looks like we’re in for a treat… literally!
Among the slew of new programs premiering next year is the debut season of MasterChef: Dessert Masters. In a world-first, the greatest pastry chefs from around the country will battle for the title of Australia’s Dessert Master.
In MasterChef: Dessert Masters, a dozen of the nation’s home cooks will compete against each other in incredible, pastry-themed challenges – all beneath the bright lights of the famed MasterChef Australia kitchen.
The pastry chef who wins over the judges will walk away with the crown and a delicious $100,000 in prize money.
“Watching Australia’s best dessert and pastry chefs compete in the MasterChef Kitchen in MasterChef: Dessert Masters will deliver some of the greatest sweet treats we have ever seen on Australian TV,” Marty Benson, Director of Content at EndemolShine said.
But Channel 10’s impressive 2023 line-up doesn’t end there!
Property series Location, Location, Location, based on the popular British format, will premiere next year, while UK dog trainer Graeme Hall will take part in a new canine series, Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly.
Due to I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! returning to its live broadcast from the South African jungle, The Bachelors has instead been pushed to a January 2 premiere date.
Meanwhile, Gold Logie-nominee Tom Gleeson will return to screens in the new comedy series Taskmaster, which has been adapted from the hit UK format of the same name.
Tom will star as the Taskmaster, with Tom Cashman his devoted assistant. Each week the two Toms will set five comedians a range of ridiculous tasks designed to bamboozle brains and put funny bones to the test.
Featuring on the laugh-out-loud comedy show is Julia Morris, Luke McGregor, Jimmy Rees, Nina Oyama and Danielle Walker.
“Taskmaster is a popular comedy game show from the UK where the host belittles comedians while they carry out tedious tasks,” Tom said.
“People have been asking me to host an Australian version for years. How could I say no? Hosting this show is a bloody match made in heaven!”
Sadly, lifestyle program The Living Room will take a hiatus in 2023.
“After 11 fabulous years, we’re going to take a break in 2023 and come up with new, zany and exciting ways to rearrange The Living Room,” hosts Amanda Keller, Dr Chris Brown, Miguel Maestre and Barry Du Bois said.
“We love spending Friday nights with you and have loads more fun coming your way before Christmas, so stay tuned! Thank you for sharing your living rooms with us, our little dysfunctional TV family of four. We hope you feel as much joy watching the show as we do making it.”
Also coming to the network is drama North Shore, which follows the story of a British detective and his Australian counterpart teaming up to solve a murder.
New fictional series Paper Dolls will follow the meteoric rise of a girl band spawned from a reality television show, while four-part thriller Riptide is a modern-day whodunnit that audiences are bound to fall in love with.
