A few months ago it was announced that the next Time Lord taking over the Tardis in Doctor Who would be female, played by British actress Jodie Whitaker.
The news created quite a stir amongst fans, but it seems that Sherlock could soon follow suit if Benedict Cumberbatch has anything to do with it.
When asked if Sherlock should have a lady lead, Benedict was all for it!
โWhy not?โ he told RadioTimes. โI donโt care! Sherlockina. Itโs coming to you soon.โ

Jodie Whitaker will soon take over as the lead in Doctor Who.
The future of Sherlock is still up in the air, as no official word has been given whether a fifth series will be happening and Benedict is unable to give any answers.
When asked if heโd like to return to Sherlock, he replied with โmaybeโ.
And when asked if heโs spoken with Sherlock co-creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss about another season, another โmaybeโ was given.
Come on, Benedict, we need answers!
It turns out that all parties involved are keen for more episodes, but their various schedules are the hindrance.
โItโs not lack of will โ itโs a nightmare to schedule,โ Mark Gatiss told UKTV.
โIt was very, very hard to schedule the last series, because of Martin [Freeman] and Benedictโs availability. And Steveโs and mine.

Sherlock stars Martin Freeman (left) and Benedict Cumberbatch.
โThere is always that Fawlty Towers principle of, โLetโs just leave itโ. Weโve had the keys to Baker Street for a while, but one of the wonderful things is that theyโre always shared. They were shared while we were making it.
โThereโs nothing wrong with saying, โThat was our version, somebody out there go and do their versionโ.โ
Fingers crossed a fifth season (with a female lead) hits our screens sometime soon!
