If you tuned in to the first, high-drama episode of Bachelor In Paradise last night you would have seen a very awkward exchange between Brett Moore, a former contestant from Sophie Monk’s series of The Bachelorette, dodging questions from a Network Ten producer on his current relationship status.
Now to Love revealed the 29-year-old is bending the rules of the dating show after his fellow Bachelor In Paradise contestant Florence explained she was aware that Brett was dating Stephanie Boulton from Matty J’s season of The Bachelor Australia.
“Brett told me that he was seeing someone outside of Paradise, but it wasn’t that serious,” said Florence, who was also hooking up with a contestant before entering the show.
“Brett got the call to appear on the show and he said yes, then Stephanie got the call and said yes too.”
“They both agreed they weren’t officially together and agreed to do it to see what happens. It’s not fair to other people.”
Despite claiming the he and Stephanie aren’t that close, a series of seriously loved-up photos on Instagram tells a different story.
Something smells fishy here, and we don’t think it’s the pristine shores of Fiji…Is Brett and Stephanie’s relationship real? Why are they on a show to find love if they’ve already found it?
We think Brett and Stephanie have some explaining to do and here are all our reasons why…
Why is Stephanie Boulton posting old loved-up snaps of her and Brett?
It was revealed Stephanie and Brett were dating after they took a romantic trip to Indonesia together in December of last year. Stephanie posted a snap of the pair cuddling in bed with the caption, “This morning, in bed, with you.”
In January, the blonde beauty posted another shot from the idyllic holiday, taken by Brett and hinting at the couple’s relationship with the caption, “Tonight consists of a takeaway and demolishing a tub of picnic icecream #boyfriendsofinstagram.”
Fast forward to March, and Stephanie is still posting photos from the same holiday the couple shared, her most recent is another shot of the two in bed with the caption, “You’re every nice word I can think of.”
What’s with the old snaps Steph? The blonde is yet to post a current photo of the pair together…
It’s reported filming of Bachelor In Paradise began some time in November. But since Stephanie is posting photos from random dates, it’s unclear if the couple went on the trip before or after filming the dating show.
Why are their Bachelor In Paradise contestants supporting their relationship?
While Bachelor In Paradise is all about finding love, in just one episode there was more strategy and scrambling to win a rose and stay on the island than you’d see in an episode of Survivor.
To stay on the show, the contestants must receive a rose from a potential suitor. So surely if two contestants on the show are already in a relationship, that creates an unfair advantage, right? And surely this would upset their fellow contestants?
Although Florence revealed she thought the couple going on the show together was ‘unfair’, it seems some of the other Bachelor In Paradise contestants are very supportive on their union, leaving encouraging comments on Stephanie’s social media posts.
“This is lovely,” wrote Megan Marx on one photo of the couple.
Why did Brett switch his Instagram profile to private?
Brett did have an Instagram account (@suchislife.co) but between 4pm and 5pm before the series premier on Sunday night, the contestant switched his account from public to private. Does he have something to hide?
If the preview for tonight’s episode is anything to go by, more drama is expected, as a producer confronts Brett blatantly asking him if he is single. One thing we know for sure, we’ll be tuning in!
