The first overnight date caused all kinds of chaos.

Eight episodes in and the stench of desperation is strong in The Bachelor mansion. The claws are well and truly out as the girls break the rules to win one-on-one time with Matty J. Here are five of the biggest talking points from tonight’s episode.

Elora gets the first second date – and it’s an overnighter!

Elora got the first single date, and then she goes and gets the first second date. AND, it’s the first ever overnight date. This cements her status as the most hated girl in the house.

YAY! We are thrilled for you, Elora!

We can’t blame Matty for wanting to spend more time with her. I think it’s safe to say all of Australia fell a bit in love with Elora on that second date. She is Disney Princess-level beautiful.

Game over. The rest of you can all go home now.

The date goes so well, Matty doesn’t want her to leave and so the two decide to stay in separate cabins (yeah, right!) overnight in the Blue Mountains. Needless to say Elora’s 24-hour absence is keenly noticed by the girls.

Florence cheats on everything, except people

Desperate for alone time with Matty, Florence throws the rule book out the window when it comes to the “compatibility test”.

I cheated. Sue me.

She admits her wayward ways to Matty whose moral compass is clearly torn. But, he still gives her a rose because she’s really, really hot.

Jen is the sole remaining villain

We get it, Jen is mean. Her nasty pieces to camera are getting a little too sour. “I wouldn’t care if he pushed her off a cliff?” Come on, that’s a bit much. We get that they’re fighting over Matty’s heart, but it’s not a fight to the death.

WHAT?! I’m not compatible with ANYONE?!

Sharlene is the true hero of the hour

Oh Sharlene, it feels like we’ve known you for roughly 50 minutes as you only seem to have appeared in tonight’s episode. But my, you were a welcome breath of fresh air. Sick of getting as much airtime as the catering staff, Sharlene FINALLY got to chat to Matty – who straight up told her he was not feeling the sparks. It was tough, but she took it like a pro. After the initial shock of course…

Well, that was a mighty blow to the ego.

Also – it’s no real surprise there was no chemistry between these two when Sharlene revealed that she was looking for a guy into pugs, musical theatre and martial arts. Can Sharlene PLEASE be The Bachelorette next year? Because we would love to see that casting line-up of suitors! Would watch.

Steph and Alix do not receive a rose

We’re almost at the half-way mark which means the dead weight has to go. Steph was no surprise as she had perhaps five minutes more airtime than Sharlene. But it was a real kick in the feels for Alix, who was hot off the heels of last night’s single date. Matty’s not here to play games. These girls are dropping like flies and it’s about to get very interesting.
