Who doesn’t like the big, burly silent type and Apollo Jackson is proving to be the stealth underdog from series three of The Bachelorette Australia.

Stu Laundy and even pot plant enthusiast Jarrod Woodgate may have landed in Sophie Monk’s top three on the Channel Ten dating show, but we think Queenaland boy Apollo Jackson could win The Bachelorette Australia 2017.

If he’s set to become Mr Bardot, it’s best we get to know the man who wooed Sophie Monk with his magic from night one.

Who is Apollo Jackson?

Apollo Jackson, born Jake Spence is a 24-year-old magician who hails from the Gold Coast.

Speaking to NW about his name change, he shared, “I had a crappy, old, beat-up car for a while called Apollo. That’s the car I started to drive to my [magic] gigs. I even slept in it for a little bit! So I took Apollo as my first name.”

Just like Sophie, we’re hooked… line and sinker.

And boy, does he live up to his updated title… the man seriously looks like a Greek god.

Apollo also happens to be ridiculously sweet and charming.

He likes to describe himself as an “old soul.”

Apollo’s Bachie bio states, “He is looking for a woman who can share his passion for philanthropy and knows what she wants in a relationship.”

Not that we believe in good omens, but just like the 2015 Bachelor winner Snezana, Apollo was the first guy to meet Sophie Monk on the red carpet.

This couldn’t be more magical…

What does Apollo do for a living?

MAGICIAN.

Proper, fork-bending MAGIC.

He describes himself as an “actor, professional magician, singer and horsewhispering ninja entrepreneur”, while his professional page also adds “escape artist and motivational speaker.”

We certain there’s magic coursing through Apollo’s veins…

In 2016 he correctly predicted the top three Melbourne Cup horse a week before the race.

When isn’t being our favourite boy wizard, Apollo is doing charity work.

He’s the face of a charity called Horses Helping Humans, which focuses on the healing power of animals for people affected by disabilities and illness.

He wasn’t always a super fit beef cake

That wasn’t always there… WHAT!?

Sophie Monk is pretty transfixed by the Clark Kent look-a-like, and to be perfectly honest, we get it.

But there was time when he wasn’t a Greek god look-alike.

At 22, Apollo weighed 150kgs and in turn he suffered a heart attack.

The health scare saw the magic man lose half his body weight and turn his life around.

He still gets the importance of cake.

“I went through a period where I was crazy stressed, so I ended up overweight. I put on 40 kilos, weighing 150kg, was mega-stressed, not happy and went through a bit of depression. Then I had a heart attack,” he told NW.

“I was at a friend’s place. I had just finished a 14-hour shift and then boom.”

“I ended up in critical care for two weeks and I just reassessed my life. I just went, ‘OK, what do I really want in my life?’ And at the end of the day it was making people smile and making people feel good and my heart has always been doing that.”

He’s actually the Hulk

No seriously.

Lord have mercy! From puppies…

To smashing through walls.

Apollo Jackson confirmed that he is body double of The Hulk in the upcoming Marvel movie Thor: Ragnarok.

The Queensland local also revealed that he was approached to appear in the latest Thor film as the “big green guy”.

“I am a massive nerd so I was super excited and so stoked to do a Marvel movie.”

Now we know where the costume came from!

He’s genuinely a good guy that really likes Sophie Monk

This moment still makes our heart weep.

He makes Sophie laugh…

We’re convinced that they’ll be dancing off into the sunset together!

Some fans don’t think Apollo could win as he’s one of the youngest in the house, but the 24-year-old tells his naysayers that age is just a number – and it won’t hold him back.

“I know there’s a 13-year age gap between Sophie and I, but I’ve always thought of love not having boundaries.”

Plus – it helps the pair are completely into each other.

It’s more than puppy love…

“There’s a spark with me and Sophie.”

“I feel like I’m at a later stage of my life and I’m ready to share it with her.”

He’s definitely someone beyond his years.

One of the experiences that shaped him is watching his mum Sue fight breast cancer.

“She was in and out of hospital,” the Bachelorette babe told TV WEEK of the terrifying years his mum battled the disease.

“Obviously being young, you don’t know much about cancer but when you hear that word – cancer – you know it’s not a good thing. It was a tough time.”

Being the gem that he is, Apollo did his best to make her happy.

“I was trying my best to make her laugh and smile all the time,” he says. “It was really inspiring to see how strong she was going through it all.”

Fortunately, Sue is now in remission and Apollo still remembers the day clearly when she received the good news. “I just remember there was a lot of crying,” he admitted.

“She was sitting on the bed sobbing. And then once it was all over she wanted to get straight back to work.”
