Karl addressed Ally’s departure on Monday morning’s episode of the breakfast program.

“Alison Langdon, everyone – the new host of A Current Affair, of course. Congratulations, Ally,” the presenter said at the top of the show.

“I wasn’t sure what you would do this morning… I knew it would be something,” replied Ally.

The soon-to-be ACA host told viewers she was feeling “excited but bittersweet” about the new chapter.

Karl, for his part, kept the jokes coming throughout the episode. When a promo teased Sarah Abo as Ally’s Today Show replacement, the 48-year-old quipped: “out with the old and in with the new.”

“When you say things like that I can’t wait to go,” Ally replied.

“And we can’t wait to shove you off. It’s going to be a wonderful week of celebrations,” Karl teased back.

The crew at Today had their own fun, repeatedly playing the ACA theme throughout the episode.

“It’s going to be a long week for you Langdon,” Karl repeated.

On Sunday night, Nine confirmed Ally would be replacing Tracy Grimshaw on ACA, with a statement that read: “For over two decades, she’s been one of television’s most trusted voices with a world of experience. Fearless and razor sharp.”
