After a challenging yet empowering journey to motherhood, the beloved Red Wiggle Caterina Mete, 43, has announced the arrival of her twin daughters.
The girls were born on 25 June 2024, and Caterina is beyond excited for her newest venture as a mother.
“Double the joy, double the love! I am so thrilled to announce the arrival of my precious twin girls, Dolly and Gigi.
“My heart is overflowing with happiness as I welcome to the world my two little miracles,” Caterina shared while reflecting on this joyous occasion.
The Wiggles were quick to share their excitement, support and congratulations for Caterina, with the group saying, “We are absolutely thrilled for Caterina and the arrival of her beautiful twin girls.
“Her journey to motherhood has been truly inspiring, and we can’t wait to meet these adorable new additions to The Wiggles’ family.”
Individual members of The Wiggles also congratulated Caterina in the comment section of her Instagram announcement.
“Congratulations Kitty! Can’t wait to meet Dolly and Gigi soon. ❤️,” Simon Pryce wrote, while Dorothy the Dinosaur added, “The best news ever! We love you and welcome”.
“Happy happy tears 🥹😭💞 gorgeous girls, gorgeous mum 🤩,” Lucia Field commented, and Purple Wiggle John Pearce wrote, “Yayyyy congratulations Kitty! What a beautiful little family 🥰🥰”.
Caterina’s happy baby news comes just a few months after she announced she was pregnant.
The Red Wiggle has also been open about her experience navigating the challenges of IVF, and her decision to utilise an anonymous donor.
“I didn’t want to have any regrets,” the 43-year-old told 9honey Parenting of her decision to become a single mum.
“I’m a person who likes to do things on their own and I’m happy with my own company so to speak.”
“But I thought, ‘I don’t wanna have to wait for somebody who may or may not ever come’ or may come years down the track,” she continued. “So I just thought I have to do this.”
Caterina has had a career with The Wiggles for two decades, having started as a friend to Dorothy the Dinosaur before evolving into a variety of different roles.
The 43-year-old went on to become the Head of Wardrobe, Dance Captain, Choreographer, and eventually, in 2021, the Red Wiggle.
