It’s nice to know that, at 89 years of age, Queen Elizabeth has still got game.
The Queen unexpectedly turned her flirt on whilst at the Commonwealth Heads of Government dinner in Malta, with Canada’s new (and very handsome, we might add) Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau.
The Queen was dressed up in her finery for the occasion and ended up having a little flirt with Mr Trudeau over dinner – later, the duo continued their banter online.
Speaking to the assembled heads of government, Trudeau, who assumed office in October, noted that the Queen had seen past Canadian prime ministers come and go.
“Some of those memories are of formal state occasions. Some are more personal,” said Trudeau.
“One that I personally remember well from my childhood and indeed, treasure is this: It is 1982, Queen Elizabeth signs the Constitution Act, thus empowering Canada’s legal foundation, including our Charter of Rights and Freedoms,” he said.
“On that cool day in April, seated next to you, was my father. Pierre Elliott Trudeau was your fourth Canadian prime minister. I am your twelfth,” said the 43-year-old.
To which Her Majesty replied, “Thank you, Mr prime minister of Canada, for making me feel so old!”
Luckily, Mr Trudeau wasn’t going to let that comment go unnoticed.
Tweeting later on in the night, Justin replied, “On the contrary, you are forever young. I was honoured to toast your lifetime of service tonight.”
How sweet!
However, despite their exchange, we doubt that Prince Philip should be watching his back – if 68 years of marriage is anything to go by!
