The Duke of York’s ex-wife, Sarah ‘Fergie’ Ferguson, has appeared on popular American shopping channel QVC to promote a “pick me up” blender.
Viewers channel-surfing at midnight were surprised to see the royal on their screen describing how to make a breakfast smoothie containing lemon peel, cayenne pepper, ginger and pineapple.
The Duchess, famous for her fluctuating weight and unhealthy relationship with food, came on air to describe how the Fusion Xcelerator blender had helped her get back in shape after she “ballooned up”.
“I’ve made a few mistakes, put on weight and done this, that and the other and now because of the American people, I wanted to be really honest with them,” she said.
“I ballooned to about 192lbs. I saw a picture of myself and I needed to change my life and I went in search of the perfect way to change my life.”
The former Weight Watchers ambassador has struggled with her weight her whole life, once being cruelly nicknamed “The Duchess of Pork” because she cut a fuller figure than her royal counterpart Princess Diana.
The 55-year-old went on the talk show to give herself an image revamp. “No longer am I the ‘Duchess of Pork’ … or fat frumpy Fergie…” she said.
The appearance also coincided with the launch of her new range ‘Duchess Discoveries,’ a platform where she endorses her favourite items and purchases.
