Former Neighbours star, Takaya Honda is preparing to welcome his first child with his wife, Amy.
The soon-to-parents took to Instagram to share the happy news with a collection of beautiful photos. With the pair embracing, Amy held a piece of baby clothing which read, “and then there were four” – because their first ‘child’ was their dog, Mia.
The little pooch also made an appearance in the announcement, wearing a bandana with “promoted to big sister” on it.
Despite the joyous news, Takaya acknowledged it hasn’t been an easy journey for the couple after struggling with fertility for years.
“We’ve been waiting for this news for a long time, it’s been years of hoping & waiting,” he began. “Years of frustration being told that we were both healthy and fine.
“Years of frustration being told ‘you just need to relax and it will happen’. Sometimes it’s not up to us, sometimes it’s out of our control and the universe has different plans.”
“Maybe it was to teach us patience or maybe to teach us that some things will never be in our control and that’s okay because things will happen when they are divinely ready.”
He continued to admit that they never gave up despite those moments they believed it was “never going to work.”
“It’s impossible to really communicate what the last few years have been like, especially not the last year filled with so much hope then despair, belief then loss and oh so many needles,” he continued.
“Thank you for choosing us little one, we can’t wait to share our lives with you. Baby Honda due Summer 2025 ♥️♥️♥️”
Takaya previously starred in Neighbours as David Tanaka, before departing the Australian soap in February 1, 2024. Many of his former co-stars flooded the comment section with love.

Georgie Stone commented: “oh my goodness!!!! congratulations tak and amy!!!!! this is so wonderful ❤️❤️❤️.”
“I have tears!! So incredibly pleased for you both… you’re gonna be the bestest parents … overjoyed,” Lucinda Cowden added.
