Crown Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel of Sweden have tested positive for COVID-19, it has been confirmed.
The pair, who have remained in their home country throughout lockdown, are currently isolating with their two young children, Princess Estelle, nine, and Prince Oscar, five.
According to a statement from the Palace, Crown Princess Victoria began self-isolating on Wednesday this week as soon as she began experiencing cold symptoms.
“Immediately after the symptoms of illness appeared, The Crown Princess, Prince Daniel, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar were quarantined at home,” a statement from the Swedish royal court read.
“The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel are doing well under the circumstances with only mild symptoms,” it confirmed.
While the news may come as a shock to royal fans, it can be rest assured that the family are still in good spirits.
In fact, little Oscar will no doubt still be on cloud nine just days after he celebrated his fifth birthday.
Despite being under COVID restrictions, the family found their own way to celebrate the milestone.
Crown Princess Victoria shared a gorgeous series of photos of Oscar to mark the special day.
In the images, Oscar is accompanied by the family’s cavoodle puppy Rio.
In another, his big sister Estelle joins him in the snow outside the Swedish Palace.
The Swedish royals are certainly not the first to contract the COVID-19 virus.
Before them, Prince Charles of the UK, Prince Albert of Monaco and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark’s son, Prince Christian have also been among those who have battled the illness – and come through healthy and well, at that.
We’re wishing the Swedish royals a speedy recovery!
