The manager of the 19-year-old,who rose to fame playing twin Geoffrey Baron, confirmed he tragically ended his own life at his family home in Texas on Thursday.
Sawyer’s on and off-screen sister Madylin released a heartbreaking statement.
“This morning a terrible family tragedy has occurred. We are devastated to report that our beloved brother, son, and friend, Sawyer Sweeten, took his own life.”
He was weeks away from his 20th birthday. At this sensitive time, our family requests privacy and we beg of you to reach out to the ones you love.”
Madylin, who played Sawyer and his twin brother Sullivan’s older sister on the Emmy winning sitcom, later took to Facebook to express her grief.
“At this time I would like to encourage everyone to reach out to the ones you love. Let them have no doubt of what they mean to you.”
The twin boys, who played Ray Romano’s onscreen sons, were only 16-months-old when they began filming the hit show, which ended in 2005 after nine seasons.
Sawyer’s last public appearance was in 2010 at the TV Land awards and he leaves behind eight other siblings.
