Being introduced the wide and wild world of royalty can be a little scary.
One minute you’re a normal girl going to university (or in Sofia’s case, looking incredible in swimwear) and the next, you’re a paparazzi target, a tabloid magnet and you have to attend up 300 engagements a year, looking primped and perfectly curled coiffed.
The very thought is making us here at The Weekly shiver in fear.
So, there’s no shame in Prince Carl Philip of Sweden’s soon-to-be-bride taking some pointers off rags-to-royal veteran, Kate Middleton. In fact, we think it’s a smart decision – Kate is pretty universally well-liked, and rarely puts a LK Bennet-clad foot wrong, sartorially.
And now, with Sofia’s upcoming wedding to her Swedish Prince just around the corner (13th of June, mark your calendars), the royal world is wondering – will Sofia take cues from Kate’s iconic Alexander McQueen wedding dress? Or will she go her own way?
We first spotted the similarities between Kate and Sofia in these photos – perfectly curled hair, an electric blue dress and – of course – a royal sparkler on her finger.
Sofia might have taken a cue from Kate, as they both wore the same shade of blue at their engagement announcements.
Sofia chose this soft lilac cowl neck gown to attend a wedding, whilst Kate wore her embellished version to a gala.
Both the Duchess of Cambridge at the (soon-to-be) Duchess of Varmland have worn a black lace dress, with a scalloped neckline and low chignon.
As well as a chiffon dress with a crossed bust.
At their wedding announcement, Sofia chose this dove grey dress, whilst Kate went with cream.
Both royal ladies have worn a long-sleeved red lace dress in a similar style.
But, most importantly, both Sofia and Kate share the look of love for their dashing Prince.
