It would be safe to say Sarah Ferguson has had a rather colourful run as a royal.
From her out-there outfit choices, to her tumultuous relationship with Prince Andrew, it would come as no surprise that Sarah, aka ‘Fergie’ has plenty of stories to tell.
And now, she’s just told one of the royal family’s biggest and most best kept secrets – a tale that has truly pulled on our heartstrings.
In an exclusive interview with Hello!, Fergie revealed how the Queen’s great-great-great-grandmother Princess Louise was forced to be separated from her two young sons and banished into a German hamlet – banned from seeing them for the rest of her life.
Fergie has made an entire TV documentary about the harrowing story – two centuries after Louise’s death.
“I wanted to know what Louise had done so terribly wrong that she should be taken from her children,” Sarah explained to the publication.
It’s no wonder the Duchess was so intrigued by the story given her close relationship with her two daughters Beatrice and Eugenie.
“I just don’t know what it would be like for me to not be with my girls. I really couldn’t fathom it,” she said.
The incredible story reveal comes just days after Sarah and ex-husband Prince Andrew were reunited at Royal Ascot.
The pair were all smiles as they attended the prestigious event, which played host to number of royals over the week.
Wearing a bold colour palette consisting of a bright green hat and a zesty yellow dress, the red-headed royal was easy to spot in the sea of race-goers.
Rumours of Fergie and Andrew having rekindled their romance have been rife since April, but nothing has been confirmed.
A source told People that nothing has changed between the pair, but that they “continue to be good friends”.
And there’s certainly no denying that going by their amicable display at Ascot.
As for their daughters Eugenie and Beatrice? The striking flame-haired royals have been enjoying the limelight a-plenty of late, with both sisters also attending Ascot over its five-day duration.
On day one, the two sisters attended the colourful event together, with both wearing varying shades of blue.
A recently married Eugenie was glowing for the event, while Beatrice, whose relationship with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi was confirmed late last year, has been said to be moving quickly.
We’ll just be over here waiting for another big royal wedding (or baby!) announcement…
