Sarah Ferguson has spoken out about how she, King Charles III and Catherine, Princess of Wales are supporting each other through their respective health scares.
The Duchess of York has revealed that “family unity is key” to getting through these difficult times.
Sarah, often referred to as Fergie, first announced she was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2023 and after undergoing a successful surgery she was deemed cancer-free.
However, just six months later it was revealed that Fergie had also been diagnosed with malignant melanoma, an aggressive form of skin cancer.
It has since been confirmed that the Duchess of York has been given the “all clear” and is now “doing really well.”
Sarah’s cancer battles were sadly followed by the news that other members of the British royal family had also been diagnosed with cancer.
King Charles and Kate Middleton are both currently undergoing treatment for undisclosed forms of the disease, and Fergie has revealed that they are supporting each other during this difficult time by staying unified as a family.
When speaking about how the three members of the British royal family are helping and encouraging each other with their respective health scares, Sarah said, “I think the key is that you don’t have to be in anyone’s face – the odd note, the odd: ‘Hello, we’re all here.’
“I was so impressed that the King became patron of Cancer Research UK; it’s such an amazing move.
“And I think the Princess of Wales was so brave with that video [where Catherine announced her diagnosis]. I think family unity is key. I love that the royal family are all supporting each other and carry on,” the Duchess told HELLO!.
Both King Charles and Sarah have now returned to public facing duties, however it is still yet to be announced when Princess Catherine will be attending royal engagements once again.
The next big event on the royal calendar is the Trooping the Colour, which marks the celebration of the King’s birthday on 15 June.
