The Duchess of York, 54, arrived at the royal Balmoral estate last week to spend a short break there alongside her former husband Prince Andrew, 54, and their daughters Princess Beatrice, 26 and Eugenie, 24.

Fergie was looking forward to spending some quality time with the Queen, who traditionally holidays at the Scottish estate every summer. Queen Elizabeth is reportedly fond of her former daughter-in-law. Prince Philip however, has different feelings and it’s believed that Fergie will flee before he arrives at the castle next week.

The Duke of Edinburgh, 93, refuses to have her in the house. It is thought to be due to his confusion over his son, Prince Andrew’s, ongoing complicated relationship with his former wife. The pair continue to live together in the Duke of York’s Windsor home.

A source told British newspaper the Sun: “Prince Philip won’t have her in the house. He cannot understand why she’s living under the same roof as Andrew after all these years.

“Normally members of the royal family stay a week or two, but the Duchess has to cut short her stay”.

Many royals visit the Balmoral estate for getaways and Fergie has visited several times since her divorce in 1996. It is believed that last summer was the first time since then though that Fergie had been asked to stay in the main castle.

There has been previous speculation that the royal pair could remarry,  but that it wouldn’t happen as long as Prince Philip opposed it. It is thought that Prince Philip has never forgiven Fergie for the embarrassment she cause the family in the 1990s with her affair and the infamous “toe sucking” photos.

Fergie is not the only member of her family to be reportedly involved in a royal rift. Recent reports also indicate that things are tense between Fergie’s daughter Princess Beatrice and Duchess Catherine.
