Samโ€™s departure from Home and Away in January came two months after the actress faced backlash for voicing her opinions on the COVID vaccine through a since-deleted Instagram video.

โ€œI was really hesitant about doing a video or even speaking up about this sort of thing, but I feel like itโ€™s getting to a point now in the world where thereโ€™s a lot of segregation,โ€ Sam said in the video.

Following the backlash, Sam originally announced she would be taking a temporary break from Home & Away to undergo a procedure, explaining she wouldnโ€™t be fully vaccinated until mid to late February.

Sam played Jasmine Delaney from 2017 until the end of 2021.

A month later, Channel Seven confirmed the actress had made the decision to leave the soap permanently. It is understood that her departure is not related to the networkโ€™s vaccine policy.

โ€œI quit my dream job at Home and Away to look after my mental health. I needed to take a step back, go home and be with my family,โ€ Sam revealed this month.

Lynne then revealed during an interview with Novaโ€™s Fitzy and Wippa that there will always be a place for her to return.

โ€œShe spoke to me, can I just say the door is not closed, itโ€™s very much an open door. Sam needed to be with her family and they are down in Melbourne,โ€ Lynne said.
