William’s touching words for ‘boss’ Queen

“I am incredibly lucky to have her in my life.”

In one of his most personal speeches ever, Prince William seized the opportunity of talking at an early birthday celebration for the Queen’s 90th to discuss his uniquely close and special relationship with his grandmother.

“I am incredibly lucky to have my grandmother in my life,” he announced proudly. “As she turns 90, she is a remarkably energetic and dedicated guiding force for her family. And I am so glad that my children are having the chance to get to know the Queen. George and Charlotte, too, will discover how lucky they are to have such a wonderful great-grandmother – a role model for the rest of their lives.”

To smiles from Kate he referred to the Queen as “the boss” and then, after reading a special message of thanks from his grandmother he quipped: “Now I can report back to Granny that I have done my duty!”

William was speaking from the stage in the back garden of the residence of the High Commissioner to India Sir Dominic Asquith, where about 2000 VIP guests decked to the nines in gloriously colourful saris, gowns and smart suits, were celebrating the Queen’s birthday – 90 on April 21.

Earlier, when mingling with guests, William revealed he missed his former career with RAF.

“He said he really missed those guys and was very pleased to speak to another pilot. He wanted to know about what kind of helicopters we flew and how many crew there are. I don’t think he wanted to stop talking about it,” Commandant TP Cherian, a search and rescue pilot.
