The now disgraced Duke of York has been dealt another blow, as his past friendship with criminal Jeffrey Epstein has continued to result in royal punishments.
Prince Andrew was stripped of his royal titles and military affiliations in January 2022 and now he’s been pushed out of his childhood home, Buckingham Palace, as new reports from The Sun claim.
His older brother, King Charles, is said to be behind this latest snub, as Prince Andrew’s treasured possessions have been shifted out while planned renovations are taking place on the palace, but they will never return now that Charles is in charge.
The Palace that is is often at the centre of state occasions and royal hospitality is undergoing a $643 million, ten-year rebuilding project which includes gutting and renovating Andrew’s suite, known as the Chamber Floor.
The Sun has reported that a source has said that “The King has made it clear that Buckingham Palace is no place for Prince Andrew.”
This latest move is the final push to get Andrew out of the London royal residence, as last year his office quarters in the palace were taken from him.
The insider has said that being shown the door will be a big blow to the 62-year-old, “Andrew loved having a suite at Buckingham Palace where he was not only set up for marital life with Sarah Ferguson but used it as a bachelor’s pad after his divorce.”
On top of all of this, in November 2022 the Duke was told that his taxpayer funded armed guards were set to be axed the following month.
Prior to losing his security, the father of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie was escorted by police guards whenever he left the grounds of Windsor. It’s estimated that this cost the taxpayer up to three million pounds per year.
