The Weekly joins royal baby watch in London

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Britain is buzzing with rare high temperatures in line with locals’ soaring spirits as the royal family prepares to welcome its newest addition, and The Weekly has touched down in London to join in the royal baby madness.

Still on a high from last week’s sporting victories which saw the Brits take home trophies from the Lions’ rugby tour win against Australia and Andy Murray’s Wimbledon success, preparations for the next round of celebrations are well underway as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expected to welcome their first child due this Saturday, July 13.

Excitement and anticipation over the impending birth is unavoidable in central London where souvenir store shelves have been preemptively stacked with royal baby souvenirs and party fare for dedicated royal watchers to stock up on as they plan to celebrate the newest royal’s arrival.

News of a second royal baby has further fuelled excitement as Buckingham Palace has announced Zara Phillips is pregnant with another young royal due in the new year.

While royal baby news has dominated the UK papers since the Duchess’ pregnancy was announced in December, local media has gone quiet on the new little prince or princess as royal commentators, reporters and photographers play the waiting game, anxious and on call.

Media covering the birth have set up shop outside St Mary’s hospital where the new Prince or Princess of Cambridge is due to be delivered in the hospital’s Lindo Wing any day now.

Well-wishers are also beginning to gather alongside the press pen set up across the road from the hospital’s entrance hoping to witness the announcement of the royal baby’s arrival, and even catch a sight of the Duchess herself who hasn’t been seen publicly since June 15.

The Weekly has joined the countdown on the ground and will be bringing you all the latest royal baby news live from London.
