The Commonwealth Games have landed in Birmingham for 2022, meaning plenty of royal sightings from the likes of Prince Charles, Sophie, Countess of Wessex and even a few royal kids.
The Prince of Wales opened the games on behalf of the Queen, who has been cutting back on public engagements, on July 28 with a moving speech praising the “family of nations” taking part.
Joined by wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Charles said: “Over the years, the coming together of so many for the ‘Friendly Games’ has created memorable shared experiences, established long standing relationships, and even created some friendly rivalries.
“But above all they remind us of our connection with one another, wherever we may be in the world, as part of the Commonwealth family of nations.”
Days of sport and athleticism followed, but the royal family stole the show with their stylish appearances at the games, day after day.
Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex made several fashionable appearances and even brought their children Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn along for the fun.
Other stylish royals like Princess Anne also made cameos at the games, with fans holding out hopes that Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge would appear before the closing ceremony on August 8. And they did with Princess Charlotte in tow!
