Royal baby: Will Kate Middleton give birth in March?

Bookmakers are already suggesting a March birth for the new royal baby, a sibling for Prince George before the young brother even turns two.

While the Duchess of Cambridge’s due date has not been released the fact that this announcement was made suddenly because the Duchess was unable to attend an event planned in Oxford today, suggests that the pregnancy is still shy of the three months cut off when most mothers willingly annnounce the news.

Sadly for the Duchess, she’s again plagued with acute morning sickness but unlike her first pregnancy is being treated by doctors at home in the comfort of Kensington Palace.

It’s business as usual for her husband Prince William though who will be heading out to Oxford and no doubt face a barrage of well-wishers everywhere he turns. The new baby will be fourth in line to the throne pushing Prince Harry to fifth place.

Bookmakers in the UK are predicting a second son for Kate and William with tab, Ladbrokes currently quoting 4/5 odds on a baby brother for Prince George. James is leading the field as the most likely name with the somewhat predictable Victoria for a girl.

The odds on twins are an outside 10/1 at the moment. Of course the bookies rarely get it right. George was way down the names list with the bookmakers for the Duke and Duchess’s first born. In fact, the name came out of the blue for many tabs.

The hashtag RoyalBaby began trending on Twitter soon after the pregnancy announcement was made – and a Twitter meltdown could work in favour for those fighting against Scottish independence.

Jokers are suggesting that the new baby could reunite Scotland and England and with so many still to make up their minds the royal pregnancy could tip the balance. It would be an incredible show of power for an unborn child to affect political events, but the idea of losing Scotland’s very special connection with the royal family is a serious consideration in the devolution debate.

Here at The Weekly we send the the Duke and Duchess our heartfelt congratulations.
