Chief Minister of the Northern Territory, Adam Giles, said he was looking forward to welcoming the Duke back to the area.

“The Duke visited Alice Springs with his parents as a baby in 1983 and it will be great to have him back in the red centre,” he said.

“It will be the Duchess’ first visit to Central Australia and it is an opportunity for Her Royal Highness to experience some of our best known landmarks, rich culture and Territory hospitality.

“I know Territorians are excited about this visit and locals who would like to catch a glimpse of the royal couple will have the chance to see them on Winmati Street in Yulara on Tuesday afternoon.

“The Ayers Rock Resort will make Territory flags available for anyone who would like to welcome them as they drive past en route to the National Indigenous Training Academy at Yulara where The Duke and Duchess will be presenting certificates to students.”

During their visit, the royal couple will also visit the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park where they will meet traditional owners and local Indigenous artists.

Mr Giles said nine of the Territory’s best and brightest students would be guests at the afternoon tea reception with the Duke and Duchess.

“I met some of the students earlier this week and they were each excited to tell the royal couple about themselves and what they believe makes the Territory great,” he said.

“I’m sure the visit will be a lasting memory for the students and the royal couple.”
