Prince Harry’s special moment with terminally ill boy

The young royal was celebrating the bravery of seriously ill children at the 2016 WellChild Awards.

Prince Harry was already emotional about meeting with seriously ill children at the 2016 WellChild Awards, but one moment especially touched his heart.

While he was walking the red carpet, taking time to talk to all the children in attendance, one young boy who can barely walk got up and threw his arms around the royal.

The boy was Ollie Carroll, a five-year-old who suffers from the rare Battens Disease, an illness so awful it will eventually leave him unable to walk, see, eat and finally, breathe.

Harry had gingerly bent down on one knee to greet the young mister, but Ollie was determined to meet him halfway.

With the help of his mother, Ollie, who has trouble controlling his own body, pulled himself up and wrapped his arms tightly around the Prince.

Ollie mustered up the strength to hug lucky Harry.

The 32-year-old couldn’t wipe the smile off his face, and looked to be quite overcome with emotion.

Ollie’s mother Lucy struggled to hold back tears, looking on and beaming with pride.

“You know, not everyone get’s a hug,” she told Ollie. “You are very lucky indeed!”

Lucy praised the young Prince after their touching interraction.

“Ollie isn’t actually aware of who Harry is, but just reacted instinctively to the way he was talking and interracting with him,” she said.

“He is brilliant with kids and just very natural.”

Harry reportedly gave a moving speech to attendees.

She went on to say that Harry was very honoured that Ollie gathered his strength to stand, as he doesn’t do it for just anyone.

“He was very privileged as Ollie can not use his legs but he just used his strength to stand up and hug him. I felt really proud of Ollie, and Harry too!”
