Prince Harry will miss the birth of the royal baby as he jets back to Australia

Prince Harry clearly won't be having a bar of the Great Kate Wait as he returns to Australia to complete his military secondment.

The charming prince is about to leave the UK for Australia, meaning he won’t meet his new niece or nephew until his return in mid-May.

Harry briefly returned to Britain for the London marathon, following a whirlwind trip to Turkey for the centenary of Gallipoli.

The doting uncle was hoping to meet the latest addition to his family but unfortunately the stars just didn’t align.

Duchess Catherine’s second child will bump Harry down to fifth in the line for the throne. Meanwhile Prince George’s mother is believed to be overdue after telling well-wishers earlier this year that she was due ‘mid-to-late April’.

The Duchess of Cambridge was around a week late with first child George, so as the wait rages on speculation is mounting that she may be induced.

This time around, the tech-savvy royals will take to Kensington Palace, Clarence House and Buckingham Palace’s social media accounts to trumpet the arrival of the royal baby.

Details of the baby – including their gender, birth weight and details of the attending medical staff – will then be posted in the traditional way on an easel outside Buckingham Palace.

Many believe latest bundle of joy will be a baby girl, making her the first Princess of Cambridge to be born in 182 years.
