Prince Harry stood up by girlfriend

Prince Harry and his reported new love interest, Burberry model Cressida Bonas, 23.

Millions of women would kill just to stand next to Prince Harry, but the only girl he wants by his side appears to be playing hard to get.

The 28-year-old royal was left red-faced on Saturday when his current love interest Cressida Bonas stood him up at a London pub.

Harry arrived at popular West London haunt The Brown Cow early in the evening, apparently keen to celebrate his first proper night out since returning from his four-month tour of duty in Afghanistan.

The bar was packed, but onlookers say the party-loving Prince only had one thing on his mind — Cressida. The UK’s Daily Mail reports Harry eagerly scanned the faces of the pub’s blonde clientele, and was visibly dejected when hers was not among them.

“Among the wall-to-wall willowy blondes there was only one he was seeking out: and she, to his bitter disappointment, wasn’t there,” the paper reports.

With hunched shoulders and his baseball cap pulled low over his face, he sat at the bar drinking his favourite beer with a shot of Jagermeister while girls fought for the chance to chat to him.

He was obviously uninterested in the parade of leggy ladies, saying as few words as possible before he gave up and left at 9pm, looking “despondent”.

Harry and Cressida — who have known each other for years — got together at a music festival in May and were spotted kissing at several nightclubs throughout June and July.

They enjoyed a romantic holiday at Richard Branson’s Necker Island in September, but just a few days afterwards, their fledgling romance was on the rocks when Harry was photographed naked with another girl in Las Vegas.

Cressida was reportedly okay with the nudity and the other woman, but disturbed by the increased media scrutiny on their relationship.

“By the time Harry set off for Afghanistan, things were very much up in the air between them,” the Daily Mail reports. “Cressida was happy to ‘play things by ear’ until his return, while Harry was keen to do as much as he could to keep her interested.

“He sent her ‘blueys’ (letters penned on Army-issue blue paper) and he called her more frequently than he called his own father.

“It was a romantic time for them both and, despite the distance, Harry spent a lot of time soul-searching. But now, Harry has returned to find Cressida more unsure than ever about her future.”

Harry’s friends are reportedly desperate to help make the relationship work, but Cressida’s are unsure she is ready to settle down.
