Prince Harry has flexed his acting abilities in a cheeky new travel ad and managed to sneak in a subtle tribute to daughter Lilibet too.

Appearing in a new clip for Travalyst, the eco-travel firm he launched in 2019, the proud father of two sported a grey t-shirt bearing the phrase ‘Girl Dad’ in a nod to his daughter.

Dressed down in jogging pants and a cap, Harry plays himself in the skit designed to introduce Travalyst’s new tool which allows New Zealanders to access a travel rating tool based on local environmental values.

The royal appears alongside iconic New Zealand actor David Fane, star of Netflix hit series Our Flag Means Death.

Playing a Travalyst worker named Darby, David reveals that countries can now rate tourists on how environmentally friendly they are while travelling abroad.

He then tells the royal that he scored four out of five stars during his and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’s visit to New Zealand in 2018, shortly after they announced they were expecting son Archie.

David praises him for using only one towel during hotel stays, buying local produce and not leaving water running while brushing his teeth.

“Hang on a second. How do you know that? That’s really weird,” the royal replies, later breaking into Te Reo Māori – the Indigenous Māori language – while speaking to another Travalyst guide.

But in one moment that had some fans raising their eyebrows, Harry appeared to poke fun at his former role as a senior working royal.

When David offers him a stamp in honour of his eco-friendly rating, the 37-year-old replies: “Um, I’m not really allowed to accept stamps.”

Some royal fans commented that the line was a dig at the royal family’s strict protocols regarding interactions with the public, but others insisted it was just a harmless joke.

Most of the reactions to the clip centred around Harry’s “wholesome” t-shirt, which was a hit among royal fans hoping to see more of Lilibet as her first birthday approaches.

“Harry’s such a proud dad, first talking about Archie at Invictus [Games] and now this,” one Instagram user said of the shirt.

Harry and Meghan’s daughter will turn one on June 4 in the midst of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, which the family – including Archie – are set to attend in the UK.

While the Sussexes are expected to attend a number of royal events, they and Prince Andrew will not be invited to stand with Her Majesty and other royals on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during Trooping the Colour.

Despite the disappointment, fans are still hoping the family’s visit to the UK will lead to new photos of the couple’s children being released.

To date, only one photo has ever been shared of Lilibet and pictures of Archie are few and far between.
