New reality show tricks women into thinking they’re dating Prince Harry

A new reality TV show dupes single ladies into thinking they are dating Prince Harry.
I Wanna Marry "Harry"

I Wanna Marry “Harry” takes 12 American women to a stately British home in the English countryside and encourages them to vie for the love of His Royal Highness Prince Harry, but there’s a catch – he’s not really Harry.

The desperate love-seekers are all in fact competing for the affections of Harry look-a-like, Matthew Hicks. Hicks, of Exeter, is an average English bloke who other than a smattering of freckles and a ginger mop shares nothing in common with the fourth in line to the throne.

The real prince Harry and the royal impostor Matthew Hicks.

Nevertheless, the 12 women are left convinced they are in the company of a Prince after Matthew has undergone a rigorous royal transformation, including lessons in deportment, horseback riding and royal genealogy in order to recount his fabricated roots.

In ruthless TV dating tradition, Matthew – or “Sir”, as the ladies call him – cherry-picks one lucky lady each week to take on an luxurious date, while another’s dream of “happily ever after” is sunk and she must leave the estate.

Hicks underwent a royal transformation to be able to walk, talk, and ride like the British monarch.

Reality TV mogul Ryan Seacrest is a producer on the series and Network Ten has secured the rights to the shows Australian launch.

“I Wanna Marry “Harry” is a fantastic reality romance program with a royal twist,” said Ten Chief Programming Officer, Beverley McGarvey in a press release. “It is pure fun and escapism. Although it hasn’t launched yet, the online buzz surrounding this show overseas is enormous. It is rapidly becoming a television event.”

Hicks will unveil his real identity at the end of the series and it will be interesting to see if any of the blissfully ignorant bachelorettes will stick around once their hopes of getting their fairy-tale ending are dashed.
