Mug featuring Prince HARRY and Kate Middleton launched

A souvenir company has made what could be an embarrassing gaffe, releasing a royal wedding mug featuring pictures of Kate Middleton and Prince Harry.

Guandong Enterprises launched the cup to commemorate the wedding of Prince William and Kate, but used an image of William’s younger brother Prince Harry.

The mug, which is purportedly crafted from the “finest bone china”, is advertised as “limited edition heirloom”.

“Commemorate the wedding of HRH Prince William and his stunning lady bride-to-be Miss Kate Middleton,” the company’s website reads.

While media outlets around the world are taking delight in the possible faux pas, the UK’s Daily Telegraph has looked into the mugs and suggests they might be part of an “elaborate spoof”. The paper reports that while Guandong Enterprises presents itself as a Chinese company, its website is “apparently registered in Britain”.

Whether the mug is a genuine mistake or an expensive practical joke, one can be yours for $15 plus shipping.

Meanwhile, Prince William has attended a national memorial service for the 182 victims of the Christchurch earthquake.

The royal passed on condolences from his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II and father Prince Charles at the ceremony, urging New Zealanders to “be strong”.

“Put simply, you are an inspiration to all people,” he said.

William arrived in New Zealand yesterday, and spent the afternoon meeting the families of the 29 victims of last year’s Pike River coal mine disaster.

He then flew to Christchurch to visit areas damaged by the earthquake and will fly to Australia to tour flood-ravaged towns in Queensland and Victoria tomorrow.

William is due to marry Kate Middleton in London’s Westminster Abbey on April 29. Earlier this week, the couple announced they wanted charity donations instead of wedding gifts. The Christchurch Earthquake Appeal is one of a list of charities the couple have chosen to include in their Royal Wedding Charitable Gift Fund.
