After marrying Princess Anne’s daughter Zara in 2011, Mike became apart of the world’s most famous family, with a Princess as a mother in law and the late Queen Elizabeth II as a grandmother in law (no pressure).

The now father of three explained to fellow contestant Owen Warner on if he had ever felt any pressure, and how he adjusted to ”royal life”.

Owen asked: Did you feel a bit of pressure? If I was chatting to a girl and then found out she was royalty I’d be nervous.”

Mike said: ”No, because we were friends first and then William and Harry were massive England [rugby] fans at the time, so we’d met them numerous times. Met more of the family than you’d normally have met of the woman you start dating.”

Clarifying further, Mike said he knew Zara was royal ”right away” because he was familiar with her mother Princess Anne, as she is the patron of Scottish rugby.

Mike enjoys a close relationship with his extended royal family.

Surprisingly, he also opened up about life inside Buckingham Palace.

”Do you visit Buckingham Palace?” Owen asked tentatively.

”More than most,” Mike responded.

Elaborating on what it is like inside, Mike said it was not what most expected.

”Well, a lot of it’s all the state rooms, and there’s only a little bit of living.”

The Queen was noted to have a ”soft spot” for her favourite granddaughter Zara and grandson in law Mike.

Mike then told Warner that he’s stayed the night at the palace, sparking Owen to ask if he’s able to ”go downstairs in joggers and a t-shirt” after sleeping over, or if he has to wear a suit.

”No, you get in jeans and a tee,” Mike continued.

But with 775 rooms including 19 state rooms, 52 royal and guest bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms, 92 offices and 78 bathrooms, we are sure Mike has had plenty of room to ”dress casual” during his visits to the home of British royalty.

Whilst Mike has been given the boot from, I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here, we must admit, it has been rather exciting to get to know him and the royal family in a brand new way.
