If you’re a fan of the royals, you’ll no doubt be very familiar of one of the family’s most colourful in-laws – the formidable Mike Tindall.
Oh yes, Tindall has long been known for his quick sense of humour and willingness to prove how grounded his family really are, despite being a part of one of Britain’s most elite families.
His latest, rather relatable foray into the pop-culture world was appearing in a podcast, House of Rugby, where he joined fellow rugby player Alex Payne to talk all things about the game.
Well, nearly all things about the game, at least…
In the podcast episode titled The One With Will Carling, Mike and Alex are in the thick of talking all things rugby, when an audible commotion is heard in the background.
Then suddenly, Mike stops.
“Sorry, Lena’s just on fire at the moment, she’s never quiet,” he laughed.
The father-of-two didn’t stop there, adding: “I did just send Zed a message, going ‘Shush please,’ so she’s obviously moving from somewhere.”
And yes, that is a sweet nickname he has for his wife Zara he just casually dropped into conversation!
The pair share two daughters, Lena, who turns two next week, and Mia, who is six-years-old.
The Tindalls have always brought a refreshing sense of normality to the regal fold.
During the COVID-19 lockdown, Zara took part in a rare interview on Good Morning Britain, speaking from her family home about her experience, and how important it was for people to follow official advice and stay home.
“We are very lucky out in the country and on the farm – we’ve still got to look after the horses,” she said.
The royal added: “[It’s] hard being locked up and not being allowed to do what you normally do.”
“I can’t imagine what it is like for people in the city – but try and stay inside and keep the pressure off the NHS,” she said on the program.
In the background of the live feed, it’s possible to make out the interior of the family’s country abode.
With minimal cream coloured walls, some shelves and a single kettle in the background, it looks like they prefer to keep things simple.
Not long after, Zara did another interview with the BBC, this time from another family room.
In the BBC video, a chalk board and a pin board clad with writing, cards, letters and photos can be seen in the background.
Looks like the Tindall’s really can be just like the rest of us… without the royal relatives, that is.
