With Meghan Markleโ€™s due date believed to have been and gone, the waiting game for Baby Sussex is getting somewhat tiresome for avid royal fans.

But as we twiddle our thumbs waiting for the big announcement from the Palace, itโ€™s no wonder some of the finer details around the birth might start to slip through the cracks.

And the latest piece of news is one that has certainly commanded our attention: A technicality on the Palace website might have just revealed the babyโ€™s gender and nameโ€ฆ oops!

Dedicated fans discovered three pages on the Buckingham Palace website reserved for a โ€˜Prince Alexanderโ€™, a โ€˜Prince Arthurโ€™, and a โ€˜Prince Jamesโ€™.

Indeed each URL (entered, for example, as www.royal.uk/prince-arthur) has been placed as a redirect link back to the main page of royal.uk.

Meanwhile, when using the same method on other baby names topping the โ€˜most likelyโ€™ list for Harry and Meghan (including those for a baby girl), a โ€˜page not foundโ€™ screen pops up.

Curious!

Interesting! Could we be welcoming an Alexander, James or Arthur soon? (Image: Getty)

So does this mean that weโ€™ll be welcoming a baby boy with one of the aforementioned names? Well, we very well could be, but we should definitely take this with a grain of salt.

According to the Daily Star, A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: โ€œA large number of search term redirects were set up some time ago on royal.uk. This was in order to improve user experience.โ€

And with that being said, this isnโ€™t the first time a mysterious URL has thrown us off the scent when it comes to royal baby names โ€“ the exact same scenario occurred in 2018 when Prince Louis was born.

Eagle-eyed fans noticed new webpage www.royal.uk/prince-albert had popped up just days following Prince Louisโ€™ birth, before his name had been announced.

At the time, the link led users to โ€œAccess Deniedโ€ and โ€œYou are not authorised to access this pageโ€ messages.

The news sent fans into frenzy, with many believing they were about to announce his name as Albert.

But given they announced only days later that theyโ€™d opted for Prince Louis, the elusive webpage might have just been a ruseโ€ฆ or a very brave intern trying their hand at website development.

Thereโ€™s another theory that could be in play hereโ€ฆ

There is another potential reason why these three new URLs have popped up on the Royalโ€™s website, and it could all be to do with a simple test.

Indeed when the Prince Albert URL sent fans into meltdown, a number of royal watchers expressed their, erm, aversion, to the name (politely of course!).

So when all was confirmed that the young Prince would be called Louis, many breathed a sigh of relief at the news.

But hereโ€™s a theory that made us think twice โ€“ did the royalโ€™s plant the URL on purpose to sound out the name with the public?

Because if they did, that would certainly explain why they didnโ€™t opt for Albert in the end.

If this hunch is correct, we can all take comfort in the fact that the three new names potentially reserved for Baby Sussex on the royal website are perfect.

And while weโ€™re here, perhaps it might be wise to make our top pick of the three known โ€“ you know, in case Meg and Harry are readingโ€ฆ

So not to drop a big hint or anything, but us royal fiends in the office are officially declaring Alexander as our name of choice โ€“ you have our approval, Team Sussex!
