Kensington Palace has confirmed that the Duchess, née Kate Middleton, will leave Prince William and Prince George at home to take an overnight trip to Malta to mark the Mediterranean island’s 50th anniversary of independence.
The official itinerary for the visit, which is due to take place on the 20-21 September, indicates Kate, 32, will enjoy two days of jam-packed pomp and pageantry.
The spectacular visit will see the Duchess call on the tiny nation’s president Marie Louise Coleiro and enjoy historical re-enactments, boat tours of the Grand Harbour in the capital Valletta and attend evening celebrations to mark Malta’s Independence Day.
The royal couple and Prince George on their trip to Australia earlier this year.
The Duke of Cambridge, who will not be accompanying his wife, is said to be occupied with training for his new role as an air ambulance pilot.
