The Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, was overwhelmed during a visit to the East Anglia Children’s Hospices (EACH) on Monday.

The 32-year-old royal, who is a patron of the charity, spoke to staff, volunteers and families who have a member being supported by the charity.

Kate was there to help make their fundraising appeal to build a new hospice in Norfolk and to replace the one in Quidenham.

When she was speaking to mother, Leigh Smith, who lost her three-month-old baby from a heart condition, Kate was reportedly overcome with emotion.

“Kate sought me out and gave me a hug just before she left,” Leigh told HELLO! magazine. “I was getting quite teary-eyed, she had tears in her eyes and she just said to me, ‘You’re a very brave lady and again, I’m just so, so sorry.'”

The Duchess, who is four months pregnant, looked radiant in bright red Katherine Hooker dress.

“The Duchess’s support continues to help us increase awareness and understanding of the care and support we provide, and in this instance, to highlight the need for a new children’s hospice in the heart of Norfolk,” said Graham Butland, EACH Chief Executive.

“Everyone at EACH is honoured and extremely proud to have the Duchess of Cambridge as Royal Patron”.
