Kate Middleton represents “a step forward for women”

The Duchess of Cambridge represents "a step forward for women and reflects modern women", a survey has found.

Newsweek commissioned the polling firm YouGov to find out what British men and women think about the young royal.

Participants were asked to answer a series of multiple choice questions. One per cent of respondents said they wished they were Kate, while 11 per cent said they would like the chance to experience her life for a day and 32 per cent said they would want to be friends with her.

Only 15 per cent said they would “never want to be or know Kate”.

The Duchess, who is expecting her second child, has also fallen in the ranks on the list of the most popular royals. Kate is now positioned as number four after being named the most popular member of the Royal family last year.

This year, Prince Harry came out on top, followed by the Queen and the Duke of Cambridge.

The survey also found 43 per cent of people believe Kate represents “a step forward for women and reflects modern women” while many consider her to be a positive role model for young girls – more so than JK Rowling, Hillary Clinton and Angelina Jolie.
