Kate, William and Harry to be a no show in Rio

It seems the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry sadly won't be attending this year's Rio Olympics.

It seems the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry sadly won’t be attending this year’s Rio Olympics.

While there’s been no official word from the palace as to why the royals have declined to go to the International event, UK reports have claimed Prince William, Kate Middleton and Prince Harry are skipping the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil due to concerns over the Zika virus.

Even though health officials say the outbreak is under control it’s understandable that as parents of a young family Kate and William, both 34, haven’t ruled out the possibility of having more children and the risks associated with being exposed could complicate plans to grow their brood.

And the Duke and Duchess aren’t the only royals to show concerns.

Princess Charlene of Monaco, 38, will also not attend this year’s events due to “important health concerns” her husband, Prince Albert of Monaco, revealed to the UK’s Daily Express on Sunday, July 24. “She doesn’t like what she’s been reading and hearing about the Zika virus,” Albert, 58, said.

The news of the royals missing the 2016 Olympic Games is especially surprising because Kate and William, 34, previously served as “special ambassadors” of the London Olympics with Harry, 31, back in 2012.

However the Queen’s daughter Princess Anne is believed to still be attending to support Team GB. The 65-year-old equestrian enthusiast’s daughter Zara Tindall won a silver medal at the London 2012 Olympics but was not selected for this year’s Olympics.
