There’s no denying Duchess Catherine’s love for her three kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
And as the 39-year-old announces her latest initiative, which is the launch of the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, fans couldn’t help but notice the sentimental piece of jewellery Kate opted to wear for the occasion.
Of course, the Duchess is also a passionate advocate for young children – which is why her necklace, which featured the initials of each of her kids looked all the more special for the milestone announcement.
Here is a closer look at the gorgeous piece.
This isn’t the first time that Kate has opted for a sentimental accessory as she has worn other gorgeous necklaces before that pay tribute to her brood.
This year in May, Kate wore a dainty chain around her neck during her final days in Scotland, designed by the British jewellery designer Daniella Draper.
Interestingly, the necklace was made sustainably out of recycled yellow gold, but it was the letters G, C, and L featured on the design that caught the attention of royal fans.
In 2020, Kate debuted another gold necklace that featured three hanging pendants with her children’s initials etched on them.
Kate wore the unique piece to London Park, where she met with parents to discuss the challenges they have faced during the pandemic.
Kate’s deep love for her children has inspired her to dedicate her life to raise awareness of the importance of a child’s first five years.
Last year, she launched the Five Big Questions survey, a nationwide effort that quizzed parents on the areas of work needed for young children who were not exposed to basic support and mental development.
In a statement released June 18, Kate said: “Our first five years lay important foundations for our future selves. This period is when we first learn to manage our emotions and impulses, to care and to empathise, and thus ultimately to establish healthy relationships with ourselves and others.”
The Duchess also reiterated the importance of a child’s early years: “It is a time when our experience of the world around us, and the way that moulds our development, can have a lifelong impact on our future mental and physical wellbeing.
“Indeed, what shapes our childhood shapes the adults and the parents we become.”
Kate has previously spoken about why she is so passionate about mental health and how it affects her children.
In a speech at the Place2Be Big Assembly for Children’s Mental Health Week, many words shared by the Duchess were poignant, but there was one statement in particular that struck a chord.
“People often ask me why I am so interested in the mental health of children and young people. The answer is quite simple – it is because I think that every child should have the best possible start in life,” said Kate.
