Kate and Wills’ very “un-royal” Christmas plans for George and Charlotte

Forget dinner parties and court heels, Kate and Wills are on a mission to make sure this Christmas will be as normal as ever.

Ever since Catherine, Duchess of Cambrige, stepped onto the scene as an official royal, she’s made a name for herself for freshening up royal tradition.

From choosing family friends as her children’s godparents to her down to earth parenting style, Kate has proven that, while she might be ‘Duchess Catherine’ to the world, she’s still very much ‘Kate’ at home.

And nothing proves it more than her sweet Christmas plans for George and Charlotte!

After confirming that their first Christmas as a family of four will be a quiet affair at home at Amner Hall, the only royal fixture the morning service at Sandringham, a royal source has revealed that Kate is determined to make Christmas normal and fun.

“Kate has gone all out and there’s a lot of glitter, sparkle and Christmas cheer,” the source told The Daily Mail.

“She wants it to be great fun for the kids,” they said, “There is nothing formal or stuffy, it’s all rather over the top and good fun. The Middletons always go OTT, and Kate and Will are following suit.”

And it seems Prince William is on board, too.

“It’s not Kate, but William who has instigated this. He wants an ordinary, fun, family Christmas in his own home and that’s what he’s engineered. No one’s said “no” or told him it’s not the done thing. It has just been accepted,” said the source.

And the Christmas plans a well underway already!

After being spotted in Norfolk with Prince George shopping for Christmas lights and baubles, Kate was also spotted out buying not one but two Christmas trees – a traditional one for the home, and one for George and Charlotte to decorate.

The Daily Mail reports that Kate has gone “all out” on decorations.

“Friends report that Kate has spent hundreds on gaudy decorations, including glittery baubles, flashing tree lights and mounds of tinsel, which her two-year-old son George apparently loves,” reads the report.

“The Duchess was spotted shopping as early as November with a view to making Anmer a riot of flashing colour.”

Kate’s family, Carole, Michael, Pippa and James, are reportedly also joining the fun.

A very un-royal Christmas, indeed!
