How the British press covered the royal baby

By Liz Burke in London

As the great Kate wait wore on on Monday night the nerves of fleet street types were at an all time high when it looked like the royal baby’s birth wouldn’t be born in time to make the front pages of the British newspapers.

When the announcement came at around 9pm London time, the Prince of Cambridge — who like the rest of his family will surely feature on his fair share of newspaper and magazine front pages — was page one news.

With first pictures of the royal baby not expected until later in the week, newspapers had to get creative.

The Daily Telegraph confirms it’s a boy.
