The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge pay tribute to Paris victims

Prince William and his wife, Duchess Catherine paid their respects to the victims of the Paris terrorist attacks on Tuesday.

Catherine and William looked sombre as they were greeted by the French ambassador, Sylvie Bermann, before signing a book of condolences.

The couple took a moment to read other messages of support before leaving their own note at the French Embassy in London.

“To all those who have died and were injured in the heartless attacks in Paris, and to all the people in France: Nos plus sincères condoléances [our most sincere condolences],” Catherine and William co-signed in the book.

Afterwards the Duchess was heard asking the ambassador, “Do you know anyone who was affected?”

Sylvie quickly responded, “No.”

The royals shared their condolences among other embassy staff where William noted how “truly dreadful” the events were.

Later in the day, the 33-year-old Prince displayed his solidarity with Paris by attending a friendly soccer match between France and England at Wembley Stadium in the British capital.

Catherine, looking sombre following the tragic events, took a moment to read through some of the heartfelt messages.

The mother-of-two signed her respects in the book.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister David Cameron also visited the embassy to sign the book of condolence. “I have signed the book of condolence at the French ambassador’s residence. We stand united with the French people,” he tweeted.

The Duchess was heard asking the French ambassador, Sylvie Berman, “Do you know anyone who was affected?” To which she quickly responded to, “No.”

William described the attacks as “truly dreadful,” during the solemn visit.

Later in the day, the 33-year-old Prince displayed his solidarity with Paris by attending a friendly soccer match between France and England at Wembley Stadium in London. William joined in with the French team as they sang their national anthem.
