And on Thursday, William and Kate decided to repay dedicated monarchist, Terry Hutt, with a touching gift to mark his 80th birthday.
Mr Hutt couldn’t quite believe his luck when he received a delicious cake and hand-written note from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s representatives!
“Dear Terry, this comes with our best wishes on your 80th birthday, from the team at Kensington Palace,” the lovely card read.
Making it all the more special, the letter was penned on Prince William’s personalised stationery which features the 32-year-old’s bespoke monogram.
Unable to wipe the smile off is face Terry, who was clad in a Union Jack suit, beamed with joy as he held up his loot for the cameras and admitted he was “over the moon.”
Earlier in the week Prince William and Kate treated fans outside the hospital with a serving of pastries for breakfast, which came wrapped in a pink ribbon.
Many interpreted this as a sign that baby number two will be a princess however for Mr Hutt’s package, the couple wrapped his cake up with both blue and pink ribbons.
No doubt the sugar hit will be just what Terry needed after a long week of baby watching.
And when said bub finally arrives? Mr Hutt has his own present at the ready – knitted booties, a jumper, a hat and a money box with £5 in it so Prince George doesn’t feel left out. Bless!
