Roll out the red carpet – Princess Mary is home!

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and her dashing Prince Frederick are landing in Sydney today to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Sydney Opera House.

The Danish couple will be staying in Sydney until October 28 and attending an array of events and ceremonies while they’re here, including a visit to Government House, the official opening of Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen’s flagship store, visiting children at Five Dock Primary school for the Premier’s Reading Challenge, and the royals will be guests of honour at the official 40th anniversary gala event at the Sydney Opera House on Sunday.

Of particular significance to the couple, having twins of their own, is their visit to the Australian Twin registry at the Sydney Children’s Hospital.

The prince and princess have four children, Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, and the latest, the adorable set of twins, Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent. There has been no word yet as to whether they will accompany their parents to Australia.

While the children are not yet old enough to visit the Slip Inn bar, where their parents met, we can only speculate if the royal couple will find time to revisit the place that turned an Australian girl into a Danish princess and became the unusual backdrop to the ultimate fairytale.

We have our cameras at the ready for the arrival of Princess Mary and will keep you up to date on her movements over the week!
