There’s nothing more exciting for us Aussies than seeing one of our own achieve huge success, particularly when they came from humble beginnings on beloved soaps like Home And Away.
Summer Bay expat, Rebecca Breeds, is making waves in Hollywood as her hugely anticipated new series Clarice draws tantalising close to its release date.
Watch the trailer above.
According to People, Clarice is “a deep dive into the untold personal story of brilliant and vulnerable FBI Agent Clarice Starling as she returns to the field in 1993, six months after the events of The Silence of the Lambs.”
Now, fans have been treated to a first look at the show which is slated to premiere in February 2021. And, it is a goosebump-inducing as we’d expect from a show based on such a creepy and iconic film franchise.
In the short teaser we see a crime scene where a body is being pulled from a river, cut with clips of a butterfly (an iconic symbol from the films) before a male voice asks: “What do you do with all your rage?”
CREEPY.
Rebecca plays the key role FBI Agent Clarice Starling, a character previously played by Jodie Foster in 1991’s Silence of the Lambs and Julianne Moore in 2001’s Hannibal.
Taking to Twitter after the news first broke, Rebecca shared her excitement, writing “Thank you thank you thank you for the role of a lifetime. Think I’ve earned myself a nice glass of Chianti…”‘
Exactly how fans down under will be able to watch the show is yet to be determined but given Clarice was picked up by CBS, which has ties to Channel 10 here, we could possibly see it pop up on the local channel.
Rebecca previously played Ruby Buckton on Home and Away from 2008 to 2012 and met her now husband Luke Mitchell on the set of the soap.
Speaking to TV WEEK in 2019, Luke credited his wife as being the key to his international success.
“I don’t think I could have done what I’ve done overseas if it weren’t for Bec,” Luke said, adding, “I’m a very lucky guy.”
