The 79-year-old paased just two weeks after his wife, Lady Celia who was also close to the royals.

Lord Vestey was formerly The Queen’s Master of the Horse for 19 years before retiring in 2018.

He and his wife were also in the royals’ inner circle for many years more.

Prince Charles was also fond of them, with Lady Celia becoming Prince Harry’s godmother when he was born.

Glimpses of the Vesteys’ were common at the Royal Ascot alongside the Queen and Prince Charles.

The Queen is currently remaining in isolation at Windsor Castle alongside her husband Prince Philip.

Last month, the pair were among the priority bracket in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

At the time, the Queen released a statement via Buckingham Palace: “To prevent inaccuracies and further speculation, Her Majesty decided that she would let it be known she has had the vaccination,” the message read.

While Samuel and Celia’s deaths may not be commiserated in the traditional sense (large scale funerals are unable to take place in the UK given the current restrictions), we’re sure the Queen and her family will pay their respects in other, thoughtful ways.
