Princess Sofia of Sweden recently celebrated her husband Prince Carl Philip’s 41st birthday in the best way royals know how – with a brand new image.
Royal watchers will be well aware of the celebratory technique, which usually involves a new image of said royal being published for the world to see.
But when a new image was dropped of Sofia’s husband this week, there was one thing everyone noticed – and interestingly, it had nothing to do with the birthday boy himself.
If you cast your minds back to a simple few weeks ago, you’ll remember a flurry of new images appearing from the British royals’ corner of the world.
When brand-new pictures of two of the Cambridge children, Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte, were dropped on each of their birthdays, the world revelled firstly in how darn cute they were, and then to admire the photography work – which was incidentally by their royal mum Duchess Catherine.
Now fast forward to this new image of Prince Carl, fans were intrigued to see that it was taken by none other than his wife, Princess Sofia.
The feat proves an unlikely, yet sweet connection she shares with Duchess Catherine.
In the new image shared to Instagram, Carl is seen smiling on the stairs to his family home in Stockholm.
A number of fans took to the post to share their best wishes for the royal too, with many writing ‘Happy Birthday’ along with a plethora of celebratory emojis.
The Prince likely had a low-key celebration at home amidst the current global pandemic with his wife and two children Prince Alexander, four, and Prince Gabriel, two.
Princess Sofia has recently made headlines for another, unexpected reason.
As it turns out, she’s not only a working royal family member and budding photographer, she has also stepped up as a medical aide, and has been doing her bit to help on the frontline during the pandemic.
In April, it was announced Sofia had become one of many volunteers trained by the hospital’s Sophiahemmet University College to help assist doctors and nurses in Sweden.
The Swedish royal took a three-day medical course at the College, of which she is an honorary chair member.
She then worked to assist medical staff at the hospital as they continued to help those suffering from the illness.
It seems the formidable Sofia really is a jack of all trades!
